How to Activate a Credit Card (Fastest: Online/App)

Sign in at capitalone.com/activate or open the Capital One Mobile app.
If you don’t have online access yet, click Enroll and create your account with your card info and SSN/ITIN. -
Link the new card (if prompted) and choose Activate.
On the website: I Want to… → Account Settings → Activate Card.
In the app: Profile → Account & Feature Settings → Activate a Credit Card. -
Confirm the 3-digit security code (CVV) on the back of the card.
Follow on-screen prompts until you see confirmation that your card is active.
Prefer to Activate by Phone?
Credit cards: Call the activation number printed on the removable sticker attached to your new card and follow the voice prompts.
Debit cards (360 Checking): You can also activate by phone at 1-844-242-2388.
How to Activate a Debit Card (360 Checking)
- Sign in online or in the Capital One Mobile app. Tip: text GET to
80101to download the app (U.S.). - Select your 360 Checking account that the debit card is linked to.
- Tap/Click Activate Your Card (near the Debit Card Tracker), then follow the steps. You may be asked to set a 4-digit PIN.
Troubleshooting
- Don’t see the card? Brand-new cards/accounts can take time to appear. Try signing out/in or ensuring the card is linked to your username.
- No verification code? Check spam/blocked messages and confirm your phone/email on file, then request a new code.
- Replacement card? After activation, update any saved payment methods. Dispose of plastic cards by cutting through the chip; return metal cards in the provided envelope.
Security Tips
Type URLs directly (avoid unexpected links), never share one-time passcodes, and use 2-step verification in your Capital One profile. Only use the official website or app.
